From Lil’ Mo’s “Superwoman”:

It is fascinating and bizarre and slightly disturbing that Lil’ Mo (in contrast to say, Biggie or Project Pat) manages to use a term, that I think we can agree is somewhat coarse, and make it sound so… well, you just want to sing along. It’s a conundrum.

The Jacksons, “Can You Feel It”

I know, it’s not Wednesday. I know, I have been skimpy with the hip hop lyrics this week. I know, I have strayed categorically, thematically, and in terms of genre. What can I say? The whole week, it seems I haven’t been myself. I am not making my own decisions. I have been possessed!

I had no choice. The force was too strong.

But seriously, don’t you think this is a good lead-in for the weekend?

Shalamar!

I don’t know what or who possessed my computer today, but out of thousands and thousands of songs, over the course of only two or three hours, Shalamar came up not once, not twice, but three times in the iTunes shuffle. Okay, granted, I am the one who put the Shalamar into the computer in the first place, however I did this mainly in case of an emergency like overdosing on Mobb Deep. When “Dead Giveaway” started up, I just had to shut the whole thing down. Thus, tonight’s entry is what it is.

Though I must say, “Take That To The Bank” or “Make That Move” can really refresh your palate.

Freedom

OutKast, “Liberation”:

“Shake that load off.”

Busta Rhymes, “Do My Thing”:

“Let me do my thing!”

De La Soul, “I Can Do Anything (Delacratic)”:

“I can say anything that I want. It’s Delacratic.”

Digable Planets, “Escapism (Gettin’ Free)”:

“Get free, get free y’all.”

It’s July 4th, do you know where your freedom is?

I’m about to be out like shout, off on an adventure, an excursion, a journey and so forth. For anyone out there who might check in on a regular, my internet interaction will be limited. I will try to show up weekly, but you never know with these things… The hiatus will be over mid June, so y’all come back now, you hear?

silence.

I was tired today. I didn’t feel like listening to anything but silence.

Try it some time.
