About

Why bother adding your trivial opinions to the crazy din that is the World Wide Web, you ask?

“Well, why not?” I say. Plus, I don’t get out that much.

So one day I was home listening to OutKast’s album “Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik” for what very well could have been the 739th time, when suddenly I heard, with such sharpness, Big Boi say, “Dropping these things like French fries in hot grease.”

The line, tossed out during the shout-out portion of the track “Crumblin’ Erb”, came alive. It was crackling. Had anyone else truly heard this line? Experienced its vivid quality, the deft delivery? It was then that I knew I had to share this sublime moment with the world.

And here we are. Thanks for coming.

Just a few points, so that we’re clear:

  • I promise to be completely partial and subjective in my choices and selections.
  • I will make a supreme effort to refrain from superlatives. I mean really, “the greatest”, “the best ever”?
  • In fact, entries are in no way ranked or ordered. Well okay, they are separated into 2 catagories: ! and ?
  • I will not write lyrics phonetically, or in any other way, to evoke their unique pronunciation by any particular artist. Instead, I will stick to standard grammar school spelling (with a few exceptions—there are always exceptions.) It takes too much out of me to come up with new spellings. I am not as skilled as some.
  • I will occasionally post lyrics outside the realm of Hip Hop, if I am so inspired. We’ll see…

Disclaimer: I am not an expert on Hip Hop nor do I have any underground, special or otherwise esoteric knowledge of the realm. I cannot even guarantee the accuracy of the lyrics posted here.
